I particularly appreciate the Reference Notebook checklist.  It's a daunting task to stay current with all the applicable information and that is a big help!

It's important for the Admissions representative to fully understand the school's offerings by gaining some first-hand experience.  It takes a team to achieve successful results, no one person can know "everything".  And it's important to comply with the Fair Consumer Practices requirements to be sure that prospective students have an accurate understanding of what to expect from the program.

Administration of admissions is a very detailed process and it's important to comply with all of the regulatory requirements while also serving the interests of the prospective student well.  Being well-organized and well-trained is critical.

I've learned that it's important for admissions staff to be trained before they start working.  Besides needing to be experts about our program, it's important for them to know the State of Florida requirements.

It's important to define the profile of the ideal student, and for the marketing plan to evolve with changing needs.   A good budget is necessary to make sure that the entire plan is feasible to execute.

It's important to have an advisory board and good plan for evolving the organization over the plan period, including job descriptions and a plan for space.

This was really helpful material in terms of the importance of creating an integrated social and academic environment and providing a range of student services that encourage student retention and success.

I particularly like the fact that creating a 5-year plan conveys to all the constituents that "we're here to stay".  And the discipline of following a plan really improves the chances of success.
