I have learned that it is very important to be professional in my dress and speech. I an set the example for the students for my profession. Also to address them in a respectful manner at all times. 

It is important to provide gentleness and interpersonal communication to promote effective learning.

Communication with online students can be very different since there is no body or facial language given. Many things can be misinterpreted with TMC. This is why it is crucial for instructors to have a social presence.

Understanding the work/life balance has given me greater respect for online learning. There are many different competencies to consider when becoming an online learner. 

I love the term "employees who study". This is so true while they try to balance so many other important things on a day-to-day basis while trying to add in education to better their future.

Everyone learns differently and it is important to come along side and allow them to feel comfortable while building relationships for success.

It is important for not only students to have relationships with the instructors but also a positive work environment for success.

Student retention is imperative for learning. It is important to have interactions while building relationships with students for success.

Students need to genuinely feel cared for in order to stay involved and retained. There is an emotional piece that needs to be developed through either online or a classroom setting for success.

Students need a sense of belonging in not only a classroom setting but also with the instructors for success and retention. We as instructors are not here for customer service but support and wisdom throughout their educational journey.
