Adult learners have specific career goals and would like to relate their life experiences to their learning. It is ok to listen to student problems and try to help them but do not allow them to obstruct the instruction process.
It is important to practice your demonstration before class. Try to use a variety of teaching styles to keep students engaged.
I learnt that on day one, it is important to get to know your students and give them an opportunity to get to know you. This will help create a connection with thew students and demonstrate your interest in them as people.
It is very important for the students to have a clear understanding of the syllabus that will showing lectures, projects, homework, reviews/tests, and general expectations for the class.
Don't try to show how smart you are. Model professionalism. Create the kind of environment that encourages learning.
