Reviewing the syllabus with clear expectations and rationals is always useful at the beginning of a class. I also like the idea of ice breakers and letting the students know WIIFM.

The more detail you can give in a syllabus the better. It is a contract between you and the students. The more you prepare the better you will feel. Always keep a notepad handy.

Have a personal development plan! Having a physical plan as motivation for improvement. Look for additional resources for growth such as new technologies, webinars, and seminars.
