I teach automotive and before we even step foot in the shop we go over safety and lift safety and we offer a certificate in osha 10 which will be required to be completed before going into the shop, the one thing I need to work on more is expectations in the classroom and shop.

building student relationships in a small town is pretty easy, I share a lot of the same hobbies as them and also knew them prior sometimes. I have a grade every week on employability skills that covers a lot of the challenging students and covers those soft skills.

I had a great mentor my first year, a lot of it was even just learning the grading system and expectations as a staff member.

It can be a struggle living in a small town to set boundaries when I may have known the student for a while before he was my student so I can see the importance of social media and being careful what is posted.

This gave me a better understanding of cte and how it was founded, also gave some useful resources to use in the future.
