I learned the importance of having various types of assessments: formative, summative, self and peer assessments.  Providing effective feedback gives the students valuable information to enhance their learning and performance in the course.

Creating an interactive syllabus is vital for the success of an online course.  The instructor must be able to create an online community in which students feel they belong and they have a purpose.  Effective communication is essential for the success of the students.

I learned the difference in asynchronous and synchronous discussions in e-learning.  Also, feedback should be provided in a timely manner and in a tone, it does not damage a student's dignity.

I learned it is important to have a good communication system in e-learning.  You will encounter similar behavior problems and/or personal issues as in the traditional classroom. Being able to handle those issues effectively will assist in your online teaching.

I learned the importance of projecting your presence and authority in an e-learning environment while establishing relationships with your students.
