GREGORY TETRO

About me

Good evening all. I am Gregory Tetro I would give you my eye color and sign but this is not e-Harmony. I teach the electrical evening program for PCI in Stratford. I have been here for over 5 years and have a pin to prove it. As you can see quickly, I believe humor is a big part of life and my teaching career. I have worked in my trade for 40 years and could try to unlock a person's brain and pour in the knowledge. Teaching is a passion. I think I have learned more about me by teaching than anywhere else. The challenge and responsibilty a teacher has is more than I would of imagined. Knowing this I need to send flowers and candy to several of my former teachers. It is a pleasure to be part of this group and feel part of the teaching fraternity.

Essay questions are the hardest questions to answer. Not everyone has the same writing skills and you exclude some students from scoring high on thos questions. True false questions can be a big problem if the question is the least bit vague.

I think it you have several questions that can lead to the same answer you will help more students.

Not quite sure a teacher needs to be riminded to start teaching day one. Students should expect to start off with education. Not every course is sparkling for motivation. You need to dig deep to motivated some. A creative way for math is a number crossword puzzle. Make one and challenge students to make their own. The less motivated will make it small and easy with addition and subtraction. The highly motivated will have longer numbers using exponents and square roots.

it is well known that the teacher wants the students to suceed. What you are not able to do is have everyone have the save vision. What should that vision be? Some come to expand their knowledge. Some come for a job. Some are searching for something that puts meaning in theri life. So it is several visions and the realgoal everyone got out of the course to fufill their needs.

It took me almost 3 years to really learn to teach. I knew alot and had no problem sharing it. I threw out my knowledge and was not sure what stuck. I started to ask more questions. broke up the class into smaller sections. quizzed and tested more often. Asked for feedback. How my students did was my grade. How i assessed myself. My early D's turnedto many B+'s. I never give myself an A. An A+ means I did everything perfect. Nobody is perfect. I just hope to learn from each mistake. It is how I teach the students.… >>>

Teachers need to teach and teach well. They need to understand their job, their school and the students future is in their hands. The styudents need to feel comfortable and fit in. They need to know you will push them when they need it and congradualte them for reaching their goals.

I hate acronyms or cute phrases. Students don't fall for it. You need to shock them into wanting to learn. Statistics, cold hard fact. Tell them to pull no punches and take no prisoners. You need to be the best version of yourself and hope it is enough. Too many students do not try hard enough and blame everyone else. At night we get tired students burnt out from their day. We are not their cheeleaders or friends. We need to keep the perspective. All focus is on education. I have not time to get caught up in drama. Close… >>>

The hardest thing to deal with is the late arriving or missing first day students.

Attack issues head on. Be credible. Be unique and work as a team with others.
