Activity

As a massage therapy instructor, one would think that I would have lots of opportunity to reduce stress. However, as the program director, I don't get on the table as often as i could use it.  One way I have found to help aleviate the stress is to use meditation in the classroom. It is the way I start classes and it makes the environment condusive to learning.

Meeting the needs of the students is pivotal to their success. The idea presented in this lesson about a pretest as a way of assessing where each student is was an eye opener. It benefits both the instructor and the student, because it can give the student an idea of what to expect on tests in the class. Waiting until the first quiz or test to find out how the instructor writes tests puts the student at  a disadvantage.

Discussion Comment

I just finished this course yesterday and have already implemented some of the things I learned in this course.  This was very beneficial to me.  I'm sure my students will benefit from it as well.

A student comes and says "I'm having a problem." We discuss it and solutions. The students selects the solution s/he decides the best, but never takes any steps toward action. Do you have suggestions on how to address this? It usually happens in gen ed classes, not core classes.
