About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Peggy, I think this is a very good practice to follow. You are helping your students to learn more about how they learn, even though they are adults, many of them don't know this. This is a win win for everyone. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Scott, Sounds like a comfortable fun way to do introductions and work through an ice breaker while everybody get settled into the course. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Scott, Stay fresh and prepared no matter how many times a course is being taught by you. This is something all us instructors need to keep in our minds if we are going to keep our students engaged. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Celine, As you know students love stories from the field. By using them you are reinforcing the content you are sharing with the students in relevant ways. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Christopher, Great professional development list. Valuable growth is going to occur as you work through these items. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gary, Good way to help students to connect the dots of content and application. You are showing them examples of where their careers might take them if they are success in this and other courses along the way. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Cecilia, You make a good point about showing them the value added benefit they get from their tuition. Humans tend to stay with what they know or have experienced. You are expanding the experiences of your students to include this additional research resource. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gary, I think through these efforts you are going to enjoy the results you get from your teaching efforts plus your students are going to be engaged and focused at a higher degree. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
ROB, Are there any questions I can answer for you about this? Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gary, Good support you are providing your students. They often times, as you well know don't have the tools to internalize the content that is being provided. By giving them such tools you are helping them to get the content into their memory bank for use in the future. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
