About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Michael, Good analysis of how to approach and support adult learners. They for the most part know what they want out of the class and their career training. It is our job to help them move forward toward their career goals and empowering them to reach their dreams. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Angela, This is a great strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us. They get to learn about a topic (customer service) and then see it in action when dinning out. This gives application to content in a way the students will remember in the future. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kevin, I like and use this approach for the reasons you state. It gets all students involved at one point or another plus I learn a lot from the different perspectives that are presented in the class discussions. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kevin, Good approach to getting the procedure into the working memories of your students. Through repetition you are helping them make file submission a habit of theirs that they can take with them for future use. In the long term they will see the value of this intense effort on your part. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Felecia, So true and so important. This positive first impression should get them excited about the course to come and help them to see the value of what they are going to learn. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kevin, Right you are. Building on this impression will be respect, rapport and professional growth. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Freddie, So true about bringing passion into the classroom. If you are not excited about teaching the content it is for sure the students won't be either. It is fun to share and the students should see that each time you teach. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Shannon, I am sure you are going to like the results you receive from using this type of instructional approach. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Chanda, They really are. They help to bring relevancy and application to the content that is being offered. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kevin, I agree because it gives us insight to how to work with our students in more targeted ways. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
