Melissa, Good point. Knowing the reason for enrollment enables you do to what you list. You then can customize your instruction and really zero in on the supports the students need for success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, I like both words because they help to make the content real for the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, I like this format. You have balance to presenting the content and then applying it. This helps the students to stay engaged and focused. The more application and relevance you can introduce the greater the learning. You are doing it with this method. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, These are such valuable tools for students. They can see the connection between content and the real world through the case studies. Case studies let the students problem solve and project themselves into their career areas and the greatly increases motivation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, I agree with Prezis. I use it as well and it is a different way to present content. The students are used to PPs and this format helps to get them engaged at a higher level. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, I am with you on your policies. I want the attention of the students to be focused on the course not their outside issues. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christine, Good way to balance the course content with reality. The more "real world" examples you can introduce to the class the more understanding they will have of what they are preparing for and will work within. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joseph, Good points to focus on as you refine your instructional style. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tripp, I agree and make professional development a goal for myself each year. This is so important for us to expand our expertise to become more effective and efficient instructors. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
