These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Edward, Life is full of challenges as we all know. I like that your school lets your students step out if they need to and then come back when they are ready. Your comments about rapport are right on target because having this rapport will enable you to be supportive as needed and help the students to continue their educational journey when they are ready. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gail, Right you are about knowing what the motivators are for your students. Having this information sets the stage for you to customize your instruction in a way that engages the students and reinforces their motivators. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tessa, You had some great experiences in your earlier education and they are serving your students as a result of them. I commend you for your efforts in delivering instruction in a variety of different venues so your students can learn in their different learning preference areas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jacob, Exactly! It seems that many instructors overlook this step and as a result start a class without direction and frustrated students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Albert, Relevancy and application are the essentials of learning and teaching. The more both can be introduced and used with the students the greater the value of the content is going to be to the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Albert, Good balance and variety in your instructional delivery. This way the students will be using different learning preferences and developing skills in how to acquire content through different formats. The value of this is that in the work world they are going to have to work in many different venues and they need to know how to do it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, Instructors are more effective if they have different ways they can deliver content. Not only do these different ways assist the students in the learning process the variety helps to keep the attention of the instructors. This prevents them from becoming bored with teaching the same thing over and over again. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Albert, Great way to introduce application learning as a part of the educational process. You are right about the retention going up because the more they use it and problem solve with it the greater the value they will attach to the content and procedures you are sharing with them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Travis, I am sure these presentations really help to open the eyes of the students and illustrate to them the value of what they are being taught. They help them to see relevancy in the content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erika, The more relevancy and application you can introduce the more content retention there will be. You are doing such with your practical applications. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
