About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Joshua, Feedback like this is how we improve so each time we are evaluated we have been given an opportunity to grow and that is true no matter how many years you have taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, There is a balance that is needed in terms of interaction with students. You have outlined how they both need to be in place to help students to be successful. Good points, thank you for sharing them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rachael, If we don't bring enthusiasm it is not going to be there. If we are passionate about our field and excited to share our content we have set the stage for a successful learning experience for our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joshua, So true and so important. A student that drops out is lost to the furthering of his or her career development. We can't afford to lose these valuable human resources. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Good for you. A well prepared syllabus is very valuable document for everyone involved in the course. So the more you can attach value to it the more it will be used by the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, I commend you for your effort in this area. You are customizing your instructional delivery to enhance the engagement factor for your students and as a result you are increasing their success potential. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anita, This is what student centered teaching is about. With them at the center it is a matter of building support circles around them throughout the course so they can achieve success if they are willing to put forth the effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

I reach out to the students in a number of different ways as we get ready to have a live chat or conference call so they are reminded to be in attendance but it seems that like with all situations the motivated and engaged students are on the chats or calls and the students that are on the bubble in terms of success in the course are not there. I follow up with them but it is not the same as… >>>

Richard, Respect has to be earned by both sides of the classroom or lab. The teacher needs to respect the students and they in turn respect the teacher for what is being shared and the experience that they have access to. The blending of the content and the human factor is an essential part of teaching success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
