About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Stephanie, Welcome to teaching. I wish you much success in your efforts to shape and prepare the next generation of professionals in your field. You have a very good grasp of how important it is to have a role model in front of students. By you being that role model you are helping to fulfill the human side of the career preparation process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sheri, Good study strategy. We may sit longer but cognitively we have checked out in most cases. These mini-breaks help the human brain to refocus and get back on track. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jen, This is such a great support to and for your students. They see you as a caring instructor that wants to help them be successful. From there it is up to them to put forth the effort to be successful. A win win for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jen, This is part of the human side of teaching. Be knowing they have your support and that you will listen to them your students are showing their respect for you by coming to you with their questions and concerns. Together you all can work on solutions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jessica, A grading rubric is such a great tool to use as it reduces student question and frustration. They can see exactly how they will be graded and where points have been earned and lost. This helps them to see how they can be successful in the course and with their projects. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jessica, ROI is the name of the game and the more we can show them the value of what they are learning the more relevance they will see in their studies. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jonathan, It is so important to offer variety and change of pace in our classes if we are to keep our students engaged. These strategies will also keep the students focused on the content they need to acquire and skills to develop. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brenda, Passion, enthusiasm and excitement help to sell the course content and build motivation within the class. Plus, it is a lot fun when you have a class full of ramped up learners. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, This is a ROI situation. They see the return on their investment of time and money as a result of the applications and relevancy they are getting from being in the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Kit, Feedback is an important part of our professional development. We need to provide ways to keep the feedback coming in from our students beyond just end of session course evaluations. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
