About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Lisa, Good information on both accounts. We need to stay current with our field if we are going to be fair to our students. The confidentiality issue has to be in the front of our minds at all times. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
John, Keep bringing the enthusiasm because as you know it really does make a difference on how students receive content. If you are excited about sharing they become excited about learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
John, Students need to develop their abilities to problem solve and do critical thinking. Your discussion sessions are helping them to expand their expertise in both. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Discussion Comment
Marc, I do the same thing and the results really help me to adapt and/or modify my instructional delivery if needed. I value student feedback to help me become a better instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Naomi, I am a big advocate of learning groups for the reasons you state. They provide both support and learning opportunities for the students. When a different kind of support is needed then I am there to provide it or make a referral to a source that can. This way the students have support provided in numerous ways and it is up to them to take advantage of them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Aldorey, Good variety of instructional deliveries and supports. These are what will keep the students engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Denise, Good point about the ongoing need for continued impressions just not first impressions. This is something all of us instructors need to remember throughout our courses. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sharon, I like your instructional plan and how you have laid out your content delivery to support, engage and focus your students. This is what learning should be about. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sharon, We all like to know exactly what is required of us and students are not exception. So the more we can help them understand the expectations the more engaged they are going to be in the course. Thanks for making this good point. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Aldorey, Respect and rapport are two essential ingredients needed for learning and teaching success. Both involve clear communication and an understanding of how everyone fits into the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
