About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Rochelle, That has been my experience as well. Students like stories because stories help to make the content come alive. They see relevancy and application to what they are being taught one a story is shared that connects to that day's topic. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, I am a big fan of having graduates come in and speak to students. Student motivation always increases after one of these guest speakers because the students start to see that if they will continue to work hard they to will be in the role of the guest speaker before very long. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Holly, I agree with your comments about the value of knowing why a student is in the class. This information serves as a building block for respect and rapport for the duration of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
