About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Christopher, Students like variety and change of pace so the more we can incorporate both in our instructional delivery the more engaged our students will be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christopher, Good point and one we need to remember as we start each new class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christopher, The environment cannot overtake the learning process. When students are too cold or hot, the room or lab is dirty or not supplied adequately then the focus of learning is lost. Sometimes administrators forget this point and do not invest the necessary dollars and/or effort into the learning environment. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christopher, You make a very good point about the connection between motivation and an instructor. It is true if students respect and have rapport with their instructor they will strive to be successful for that instructor. So we need to remember this as we approach our classrooms and make connections with our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Katherine, You are bringing a good balance to your students via both content and application. You are helping them to grow personally as you coach them in time management and decision making. These efforts will help the transition from classroom to work site go better for your students. Shows them relevancy and application in relation to what they are learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Frances, Connecting the dots is a powerful motivator for students. Their efforts can help their patients and as a result they will be showing their compassion as well as expertise. When they realize the impact they will be having on the care of patients their career choice becomes even more important to them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Katherine, Good point about showing the human side as an instructor. You once sat where they are setting so they need to know you understand what they are going through and that you are there to help them if they are willing to put forth the needed effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
