About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Helen, You are going to like the results you get from this I am sure. Also you are going to be surprised at the responses you get to how they have used the information in their personal lives. This is a fun activity that everyone is going to enjoy. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Wanda, Good strategy to follow as an instructional planner. You are focusing on those intelligences that will enable your students to gain the required knowledge if they are willing to put forth the needed effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jetonga, Your comments give good insight into the value of how multiple intelligences can be used to increase both engagement of students as well as their internalizing of information in a way that prepares them for their career choices. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Donna, The more realistic you can be the better. By doing so you are going to ease the transition from school to the workplace for your students. In my classes I do this by enforcing workplace behavior in the areas of being on time, working with others, dress, language and conduct. This way they can step successfully into the positions with minimum disruption. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Krystal, Personal stories are great ways to increase the value of the course content and increase the interest of students. These stories also reinforce that you their instructor is experienced in the field and have something to offer them. This sets up a win win situation for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Krystal, This is a challenge because life issues can creep into the classroom quickly since that student may be in class but she is still worried about child care or a car that won't run. So we strive to be supportive but not enabling as we help our students continue their education journey. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Krystal, These past students are such valuable resources because they are peers of your current students and have set where the current group is now setting. The current students can visualize themselves being where the recent graduates are and that greatly increases their motivation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anne, This is one of my favorite times as well. It is fun to meet and learn about the new students I will be having for the next few weeks. We get to know each other through the introductions while having some fun and getting settled into the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Arlene, By coordinating all of these various elements you show students what each is contributing to their educational opportunities in class and increases the value of each. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tom, Good way to create an understanding about your students and how you can customize your instructional process to tap into their intelligences. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
