Activity

Megan, The key is to select examples that are interesting so all of the students will feel comfortable in hearing them. If you find you need to repeat a concept you can change the example from the first one and that will help to keep all students engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, You are using a very good strategy with your grouping. This method enables you to reach the different learning preferences of your students at different times in the course which leads to a higher level of student engagement. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ruth, Good way to open up a new course. You are setting the boundaries for the course while helping to understand they need to listen and follow the requirements of the course which helps to prepare them for success in the work world. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ashley, By doing so you are helping your students see how the course is going to operate as well as set the tone for the class. By reviewing the syllabus you are increasing the value of the syllabus as a guiding document for the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dana, For sure. So important to make sure it is a positive and informative one. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, All good points for how to set up the class from the first day forward. By setting this level of tone you helping them to get settled into the course and start preparing for the classes to come. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dana, Like all three reasons for having a well prepared syllabus. The syllabus sets the tone for the class and this is why it needs to be clear and concise and answer the majority of questions from the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, Having such a setting for your students helps to ease their transition from the classroom to the workplace because they know what it looks like and how it operates. We need to do everything we can to help them see what the workplace is going to be like for them upon graduation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, You are fortunate to being in such a school. This way your professional development will continue and assist you in staying current with your content and delivery. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dana, Yes you will. You have to practice and model your expectations. If you don't then you are going to have a tough time being the learning leader. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
