About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Dhipinder, The more relevancy and application you can illustrate to your students the better. Sounds like you have a very good strategy going in this area via your use of English mechanics. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dhipinder, Like the way you have connected the various components of intelligence. I apply the saying "It isn't how smart you are but how you are smart." when working with my students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dhipinder, This is for sure. Reasoning has a part to play in all aspects of problem solving. I use a lot of case studies to help students to develop skill in this area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dhipinder, Good approach to helping your students be able to analyze and then do reflective thinking about a problem. They do need to see that even with Google they need to expend some brain power on how to approach and solve problems. Many lack this ability so we need to try and provide as many opportunities as we can for them to develop this most important skill. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kelsey, Thank you for the good analysis on how individuals process information and then store it for use later on. All of these factors contribute to how they internalize content and then make application of it as needed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Chris, This is a good way to establish yourself as the learning leader and subject matter expert. This way your student will know they have an instructor that is passionate about the subject matter and excited about teaching it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, This first class meeting is critical for the reason you state. Yes, they are sizing up the instructor and wondering what it will take to be successful in the class. This is why it is so important for the first class meeting to be a positive and engaging session. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, A document like this reduces student anxiety and reduces their questions because the course requirements are spelled out clearly and concisely. This way you can help them move forward in the course rather than spending a lot of time wondering what they need to do next. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, This is such a great way to offer the latest best practices in your field to your students. Your efforts in staying current greatly increases the value of the content to and for your students resulting in their realizing the ROI for their career development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rachel, Love your attitude. You are setting the stage for learning each time you meet a class. Your passion for your field and your enthusiasm for teaching about it clearly shows and that gets your students excited. I wish you much success in your teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
