About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Melvina, Can you expand on this in terms of what you do? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jagrup, This is such a good point because this is the way you get all of your students understanding what the expectations and outcomes are for the course. This gives a departure point that can be built on for the rest of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melvina, What are some ways you set up your learning environment for success? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Virgil, Good point about the classrooms and labs. Coming into such a setting helps the students have a mind set for success rather than being distracted by clutter or dirt. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melvina, Good professional development plan to follow. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jagrup, It is important that students know how passionate you are about your field and how compassionate you are about helping them achieve success. With a blend of these two you are going to be a learning leader that facilitates student growth and learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, I use learning group activities a lot in my class as well. They get all of the students involved and help with students learning to work with and respect each other. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Good point and one we need to remember as we prepare our first class meeting instructional opening. We need to show them the value of what is going to be covered and how it will impact their career preparation. It is then a building process for the rest of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Virgil, This is a great set of resources and support to have. I am sure as a result of this support your students are better served and your faculty better prepared to provide customized instruction. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jarred, Good way to reinforce them and keep them engaged. They like to know when they have done a good job and are recognized by their learning leader. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
