About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Steven, Right you are and this is why it is so important to think through and plan how we are going to offer variety in your instructional delivery. The results will be many but one of the most important ones will be engaged students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Bettye, Good strategy because it lets them reset their brains and use the content that has just been covered in a relevant way. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Amanda, This is such a great way to help them see the value of what they are learning and the contributions they will be making to their profession once they are in it. This is the ROI factor for them and their career growth. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kodee, It is so important for the students to have a clear understanding of the course expectations, rules and policies. This way everyone starts off knowing what is required for course success and they know the requirements are based upon what it takes for career success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sharon, This is always a rewarding time for me as well. Hearing their reasons gives me insight into how I will approach the sharing of the course content so it can fit within their career goals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sharon, In sharing the approach your college had and now is operating under you have demonstrated your ability to adapt to the situation and still provide quality instruction. This is what being a master teacher is about and you have done it. Under the current set up you can use your creativity and expand your instructional delivery activities even more and I am sure this will result in even greater success for your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Bettye, Right you are. Everyone needs to have an understanding of the goals and objectives for the course and then build from there in terms of course expectations and requirements. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Mario, Good advice for new instructors to consider. Knowing one's self is the first step as you mention and then it is a building process from there in terms of the knowledge and skills you develop to be an effective instructor that engages students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Luiz, Good advice to share with instructors especially those just starting their careers in education. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sharon, Talk with the instructors in the different areas of culinary arts and try to get examples/case studies or any other applications that you can use in your gen ed course. This will show both relevancy and application to your students and increase the value of the content to and for them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
