About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Gary, Students like change of pace and variety in their instructional delivery and the more you can incorporate both the more engaged they will be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Vanessa, Students have selective memories at times so the more and different ways you can get your message across the better. This way they will know they have been told and that they are going to be held accountable. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Vanessa, Good ideas and ways to keep students engaged and focused for the duration of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
William, These are all good ways to enhance your professional development and growth. This is a fun part of our education in that we get to expand our education to facilitate the education of our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, This is such an important concept to share with your students. They are going to have to be strong and confident if they are going to hold up when they are attacked or at least discredited. The last part of your last sentence is to me the heart and soul of why we do what we do. We need to be able to answer to ourselves that we have done the best that we can do and that we have been professional in our conduct. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Franz, I have found this as well. The previous generation had more and different experiences that put them in more hands on situations. The current generation has not had many of these experiences so we have expose them to these opportunities and they can then develop strategies for being problem solvers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Franz, Good approach because you are helping them to develop their own problem solving strategies through practice and experience. This knowledge will serve them when they are out in the workplace as you mention. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, This is a good method because it lets students use their newly acquired knowledge via application. This reinforces their retention of not only the content but the skill development as well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, You are doing a great service to and for your students by helping them to learn how to work with others and understand how to be cooperative. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Laura, If the instructor brings passion for the field and excitement about teaching about it to class each time it meets the students will be engaged. Excitement is catching so we need to share it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
