About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Justin, This is a great way to stay current while also growing in your field. This way you will be bringing to your students the most relevant content so your students can be confident they are receiving content that will help them to be successful upon graduation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Steven, This visualization effort is extremely valuable when it comes to trouble shooting. I know this skill is going to help your students transition successfully into the work place if they are willing to put forth the effort needed to acquire it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jessica, Your last sentence is a good one because it seems that students especially college students develop selective memories when it comes to due dates, projects requirements, etc.. So the more ways you can communicate your requirements to them the better. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, You raise a very good point in terms of working with a school standardized syllabus. An additional handout where you personalize the course with your own input is extremely valuable for the students so they can see that not only are you going to follow the course syllabus but the handout(s) expand on your own version of how the course is going to go. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jessica, Like the way you demonstrate the value of a well prepared syllabus in relation to a contract with employment. Helping students to understand how the syllabus is their contract for the course will show them what they can expect from their employers in terms of outlining expectations. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, Like your definition as it presents a complete picture of how students can develop themselves for career success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, Reasoning is the core of critical thinking as you say. This is why it is important for students to understand what reasoning is and how they can refine it as a skill area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, Thank you for this analysis about how critical thinkers develop and then expand their abilities. This is how students need to approach the process of becoming problem solvers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Don, This is a good point because they help students to see how parts become the whole with shown in a flow chart. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Don, I am amazed at how the brain functions for something that weighs three pounds and is 80% water. What a wonderful device we have been given to train, educate and then utilize throughout our lives. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
