Hi Sandra, Thank you for those kind words. They are greatly appreciated. Keep sharing your excitement for your field and remember you are helping to create a future for your students through your efforts. Gary
Hi Angela, Well said and a great point. We have to reflect what we want our students to become and that is successful in their chosen career area. Gary

Hi Sandra, Thank you for your comments on using grading criteria. I use a grading rubric that shows the students where they earned each group of points. This greatly reduces questions and help to zero in on specific areas that need work rather than they just receiving a score of 35 out of 100. They really don't know why they got the score they did. With the rubric they know by category where the points were earned or lost. This really speeds up the process when I conference with students because we can go to the problem areas and talk… >>>

Hi Hilda, Good model to use and it helps to build interaction between the new and veteran nurses. This way they can earn the respect of each other as well as enhance the learning for both. Gary
Hi Elizabeth, In addition to the two concepts you listed what are some others that you could share with new instructors as they get started? Gary
Hi Elizabeth, What are some strategies you use to help get your students hooked on the course content? Gary
Hi Janelle, Put your students into small groups of 3 to 5 members each. Assign them a topic like listing their three most impact life experiencing or any other topic of your choosing. Have them talk about these topics and then have each member of each group present one of the items that was discussed. This way everyone contributes and the more shy students don't feel like they are being put on the spot because they have first voiced themselves in a small group setting. This helps them get comfortable with speaking out in class. Gary
Hi Richard, Great advice for us all to follow. We need to be on the look out for new material and exciting ways we can engage our students. This way we will remain fresh in our delivery and dedication. Gary
Hi Virginia, What a great way to project forward the learning process for your students. This helps to keep their motivation level high about what is going to happen during the next class session. Gary
Hi Sandra, This method really works as you know when teaching adults. They can become overwhelmed if they don't see or have explained to them how to break the content down into smaller units. By showing them how to do this you are giving them success steps as well as support. Gary
