About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi All, Everyone has been sharing different ways to help students to increase their motivation levels. This is so important as the course goes on because they become tired and life starts to push down on them. This is when they need some help in getting their motivation levels back up. Thanks for sharing these great ideas and keep them coming. Gary
Hi Krista, Great idea! Thanks for sharing it with us. Instructors are always looking for strategies to help them evaluate students more effectively. This method gives them opportunities to do just that by putting forth the effort to research a topic or subject and share the information. Gary

Hi Maria, By getting and using student feedback you are going to get a clear picture of your instructional efforts. This will enable you to expand your abilities and expertise as an educator each and every time you teach a class. Gary
Hi Sean, I use case studies a lot in my classes and have had great success with them. You are right case studies really help students to see the relevancy of what they are studying. Gary
Hi Donald, I wish you much success in your teaching career. You have a great attitude so I know you are going to be successful in your instructional efforts. Gary
Hi Jennifer, This is a great way to get the attention of your students and to show them the value of setting and achieving goals. Gary
Hi Donald, Good strategy. This is making it real for the students as they will be in such situations in the very near future so they need to be able to respond to these situations in a knowledgeable way. Gary
Hi Curt, You make an excellent point that many younger students miss when they enroll in a career college. College is a choice not a requirement. So by choosing to be there they need to act like an adult and take on adult responsibilities which means they are in control of their future. So their success depends on them and the effort they put forth. Gary
Hi Curt, I am like you in that I don't understand why more educational institutions don't use the methodology to capitalize on the multiple intelligences of students. By knowing about these intelligences and using them in the learning process everyone is gong to benefit. Keep up the good work you are doing in promoting variety within your classroom. Gary
Hi Anthony, You are right on with your assumptions about the different learners. This is why it is good when you have different generational learners in a class. They can share their perspectives and life experiences with each other which results in respect for what each student brings to the classroom. Gary
