About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Thomas, You make a number of very good points concerning how the environment impacts success or failure when it comes to student learning. We instructors need to be on guard so we make sure that we do all we can to create a positive and supportive setting for our students. Gary
Hi Jon, I like your use of words in terms of "the perfect canvass on which the student and instructor interact in the most efficient and productive means possible." This really creates a picture of what learning is suppose to be about. Thanks for sharing it with us. Gary
Hi Robin, You make a good point and one that is so important in setting the tone for the class. If students feel comfortable, safe and accepted they will be able to focus on the course content in preparation for learning. To not feel this way causes disruptions in the learning process as we all know. Gary
Hi Thomas, I like the way you approach the classroom and I am sure your students do as well. The interactive method of teaching helps to get the students invested early in the course as well as helping them to see the value of the content that is being shared. Gary
Hi Daniel, Well said and right on target. The positive first impression of organization and preparedness is so critical for success. Gary
Hi Patricia, Can you expand on your comment? I'm not sure what you mean by it. Thanks. Gary
Hi Dr. Volz, Good strategy for not only expanding your expertise as an educator you are I am sure raising the satisfaction level of your students as a result of your efforts. Online instruction can be challenging in reaching students so the more knowledge you have about techniques the greater impact you are going to have. Keep up professional development effort your students success will be the reward. Gary
Hi Daniel, Good suggestions all for expanding your expertise and knowledge of instructional strategies and methods. If all instructors were striving to find resources as you are doing then I am sure that the quality of instruction would greatly improve. Gary
Hi Kate, You have a great attitude and your excitement for your field will carry over to the classroom. Your instructional skills will continue to grow as you gain experience while you are making a difference in the lives of your students. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Ofe, I like your excitement about working with students. You are right about the returning adults. They are motivated and bring so much to the class. With some encouragement and self confidence these students are willing to share their experiences with other students while themselves benefiting from having the opportunity to share. Gary
