Hi Donna, This is what relevancy is all about. You are showing and sharing with them the value of a comprehensive education. This helps them to see what they are studying as being important and beneficial to their career goals. Gary
Hi Donna, How do you work to counter burn out? Thanks for you input on this as I know it will be of help to other instructors. Gary
Hi Christine, Good comments on how to work with diverse student groups. Your own life experiences and successes reflect how instructors need to approach the classroom. The more we know the more effective we will be in targeting the learning and support needs of our students. Gary
Hi Donna, Right you are. It is critical to retention and engagement to know your students as best you can. The more you know the more you have to work with in terms of planning. Gary
Hi Donna, Great story. I love hearing positive news like this. You should feel very proud of your efforts and your fellow faculty. You are are doing a lot of things right with this kind of retention. Keep up this great effort. Gary
Hi Beth, Knowing student learning preferences really helps with instructional planning. How do you identify the learning preferences of your students? Gary
Hi Beth, Good way to start the class off with them knowing how they can communicate with you. Gary
Hi Beth, Do you prepare your own syllabus or is it provided by your college? Are you able to outline your expectations in your syllabus or do you do that another way? Gary
Hi Beth, Good point about how to deliver your course content. The students need to be shown relevancy and application. When you help them see these two components you will have engaged and focused students. Gary
Hi Linda, Right you are about enthusiasm being contagious. If we don't have it or don't display it the students are not going to rise to it. We have to be motivated by the fact we get to teach content about our field and help students achieve their career goals. This should get us really excited. Gary
