About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Shannan, So true. It is a positive building point. A negative image forces the instructor to spend the class trying to dig out of a bad situation that didn't need to be created at all. Gary
Hi Rose, Where to you get your success stories that you use in your classes? Thanks. Gary
Hi Rose, What are some other ways you could make your expectations know to your students? Thanks. Gary
Hi Angela, Right you. Clear expectations reduce student frustrations and confusion. They know the expectations and can develop own strategies for how to meet those expectations. Gary
Hi Michelle, What are the outcomes you are seeking from your field trips? How long are the blocks of time you have for these trips? How far away can the field trip sites be located? If you can share this information with me I will be glad to give some ideas on future field trips. Gary
Hi Michelle, Good statement and one that students need to understand. They have to put forth the effort if they are going to get a return of value to them. This is the ROI they are seeking. Gary
Hi Sharon, So true. It is our professional obligation to come to class prepared and ready to teach our content. Gary
Hi Sharon, Good definition. This is what learning is suppose to be about. The students need to have the skills to make application to what they have learned in real world settings. Gary
Hi Robbi, Good point about learning self-confidence. When students feel they can be successful they are much more willing to work at being successful. A simple idea but one that has to be planted strongly in the minds of the students. Gary
Hi June, So important for instructional planning. This also helps greatly in establishing rapport with the students because they feel you are willing to listen to them. Gary
