About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Ali, Good strategy. As you know students really like real life examples. They see the application and relevancy to what they are learning. Gary
Hi Daniel, This is the way to set the ground rules for the course. They have signed a contract so that way there is no misunderstanding. Gary
Hi Karen, This was a great narrative about how you have grown as an instructor and observed how to work more effectively with your students. This is what being a professional educator is all about. Thank you for sharing with us. I know it will be motivating to others that read this. Gary
Hi Loretta, Adult students need support and encouragement as they work toward their career goals. Early success and rapport goes a long way in helping them see that they can achieve their career vision. Gary
Hi Jim, There is a strong connection between mind and body so the more you can involve both the greater your retention of content is going to be by your students. Keep up the research on how the brain functions. We know so little and so we are all in the learning phase together as we strive for more effective and efficient learning. Gary
Hi Connal, As a result of your course being totally kinesthetic you have a great advantage as you teach because students like to see application and be involved in the learning process. I am sure they really enjoy taking your class as a result of them being so immersed in tactile learning. Gary
Hi LaToya, Right you are. Once the students feels comfortable and accepted into the class then you can start building respect and rapport with them. Gary
Hi Sheretta, How do you help your students develop this understanding? Thanks for your input on this. Gary
Hi Robert, It is fun to be with someone that has passion and excitement about something. Showing your enthusiasm to your students about your field is what sells with your students. Gary
Hi Lisa, You are modeling what you expect of your students and this is so important. Keep up the hard work and enthusiasm, you are making a difference in the lives of your students as you already know. Gary
