About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Roger, Good strategy. The students need to see application and relevancy as being a part of their learning process. By doing the cross referencing that you are you are making this happen. This sets the stage for success once they are in the work world. Gary
Hi Dr. Rodenbaugh, Good point and one we all know very well but in the haste to get a course started forget to practice it. Thanks for reminding us all of the importance of setting the stage in a positive way. Gary
Hi Zulema, Good use of current events for your classes. With all that is going on today you certainly have plenty of material to discuss with your students. Gary
Hi Margaret, I like your method of not only telling the students what you expect but serving as a role model for those expectations as well. This is so important in the development of soft skills in students. Gary
Hi Donald, Good point. It is true we all like to feel accepted and that we have the respect of the person in charge. This helps the students to see the value of what is being taught. Gary
Hi Anthony, I love hearing success stories like this. Shows the impact instructors have on the lives of their students. Keep up the motivational talks, you are making a difference. Gary
Hi Kimberly, I think your approach of writing with your students is a great way to help to develop their writing skills while you are earning their respect and establishing rapport. Gary
Hi Lina, Yes, adult learners are goal oriented. This gives us great opportunity to engage them in the learning process while helping them to make progress toward their career goals. Gary
Hi Lina, Good point. The more you know about how students process information the more accurately you will be able to target your instruction. Gary
Hi Terry, You make a good point of how you need to be careful in forming groups. Learning groups are a great way to facilitate a class activity if they are put together with care. Gary
