Activity

Hi Evan, Well said. Through variety comes opportunity. You are giving your students a wide selection of learning preferences as you share the content with them. This will help to keep them engaged and focused throughout the course. Gary
Hi Lorna, Thank you for these great comments. It is statements like this that keeps us all coming back to the classroom. We are creating the future for our fields via the students we are helping to educate. This is a wonderful legacy to have. Gary
Hi Ronilyn, So true. By starting off with a good first impression the tone has been set for success. Coming into the class unprepared and disorganized tells the students that the instructor doesn't care about the class nor them. A really tough way to start a class as we all know. Gary
Hi Susan, Good advice for all instructors. We need to pause and think why we are teachers and then reflect on why we are teaching the subject we are. This will help us to bring our very best set of skills to the classroom each time we enter it. Gary
Hi Susan, Well said. If an instructor is not excited about the class it is for sure the students won't be. We need to keep this in mind each time we enter the classroom no matter what has been happening outside of the classroom. Gary
Hi Karen, Good points about the value of a well prepared syllabus to and for students. The results are just as you describe them so the students have less anxiety and frustration and are more ready to move forward in the course. Gary
Hi Jane, Good approach. Laying out the course requirements clearly with specific directions is the way to help the students develop an understanding of how the course is going to be conducted and what the expectations are going to be. Gary
Hi Jane, Based upon your comments in the forum I already see an instructional style emerging. You are setting yourself up to be supportive to the students while serving as a resource as you share your life experiences and knowledge with them. It is a good one so keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Yonne, You are a great example for and to your students. You have been where they are so they know you understand their situations and struggles. This gives you a level of respect that will help you to keep them engaged and making progress toward their career goals. Gary
Hi Phillip, Thank you for your input in relation to how individuals process and learn new content. As with all theories there are different definitions and applications that can be made. I appreciate your approach to how you perceive training and skill acquisition. Gary
