About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Kathleen, I like this approach because they get a number of different ways of acquiring the content with this method. By the time you get to the content the students know what they need to know and can see the application and relevancy of the material. Gary
James, Good plan. I think you are going to have great results with this new strategy. This will help to keep them engaged at a higher level. Gary
Zekrayat, Good plan. It demonstrates your caring and supportive attitude toward the students and their success. Keep up the good work. Gary
Ann, All good ways to expand your knowledge base and expertise. I am a big fan of learning from others. Through observing another instructor I can always pick up an idea or strategy that will help me to be a better instructor. Gary
Pascale, Good definition for all of us to follow. This is what makes up being a good educator is all about. Gary
Rodrigo, I agree. This has been my experience as well. There is something exciting about knowing you have acquired new knowledge and are able to internalize it to the point you can share it with others. Gary
Andrea , Open communication options like you have outlined are good because it helps to create a learning community for the students. This way they know they have support available as needed throughout the course. Gary
Sally, I wish you much teaching success. Keep a good sense of humor and bring your humanity to the classroom and you will do fine. Let me know how it works for you. Gary
Nina, This to me is a great way to teach. You are showing your students both application and relevancy. This will make the transition from the classroom to the work world much easier. Gary
Kimberly, That is what personalizing education is all about. You are targeting your input based upon what the students need in terms of support. This will keep them engaged for longer periods of time. Gary
