About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Larry, So true. These different approaches help the students to connect the dots between content and application which is critical to their career development. Gary
Maritza, You are offering a great variety of learning opportunities to your students. This is so important so they can use the different preferences and intelligences they have and as a result will learn more effectively. Keep up the good work. Gary
Diane, It sure can but I always remember that if I helped to keep one student in school or move forward in achieving a career goal that it has been worth it. Then I go home after my class which ends at 10 pm and fall into my recliner and become a puddle of jello, since I have used up so much energy. Gary
Evelyn, Great support method. You are letting them see and develop their own motivational strategies. By owning these strategies the students are going to be more invested in the learning process. This is a great idea that can be used by other instructors. Thanks for sharing it with us. Gary
Emilee, My students really like doing this types of activities as well. These activities help them with their problem solving and critical skill development. Good strategy. Gary
Salvatore , This is a good strategy to use. It helps the students to develop their critical thinking skills and make application of the new content they have learned. Gary
Zack, Sounds like a fun activity that really engages the students. Gary
Tiffany, I agree. This information can really help with your instructional planning and delivery. You can customize your content based upon where the students are coming from and where they want to go with their careers. Gary
Tom, I teach a foundational required course as well so I clearly understand your position with such a course. With your relaxed approach you are reducing student fears while showing them how they can have success. Keep up the good work. Gary
Kevin, So true. If the first class causes a sense of dread or fear then it is going to be hard to focus on the second class meeting. Instructors need to set the tone for the class and then build a positive progression from there. Gary
