About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Thomas, Great to hear how you are going to expand your efforts in instructional delivery and student interaction. I wish you much continued teaching success. Gary
Benetta, I like to do this as well. This effort helps to build my excitement once again because I get to teach new material, even if it is the same course. This really reflects in my enthusiasm. Gary
Keveka, They sure do. They see themselves as being valued contributors to the course. Gary
Dorothea, Well said. Rapport development needs to be an ongoing goal for all instructors. Gary
Janell, Good point about providing understanding and student support. These students are facing some very serious life issues that can cause them to tip either way. They need encouragement so they will tip toward finishing their schooling rather than dropping out. Gary
Jeanie, Great to hear. I know both your enthusiasm and the excitement of the students will carry throughout the duration of the course. Gary
Kimberly, Students of all ages like games and this is a good one. Thanks for sharing this strategy with us. Gary
Kimberly, The projection of one's self into other individuals shoes is an important part of instructional planning. By seeing through the eyes of students you can adapt your instruction in such a way to provide the needed support. Gary
Lisa, Humor is a powerful tool for engaging and focusing students. Use it to offer variety and change of pace in the flow of information. Gary
