About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Christina, What ever the description of how humans process information the key is to help them to select the needed information and internalize it for future use. The more accurately we can do the the greater success our students are going to have. This is one of the great things about teaching because it is challenging and rewarding to be able to do this. Gary
Christina, Right you are about connecting the cognitive process and the psychological aspects of learning. Knowing this helps you to know how to target your instructional development. Gary
James, Right you are. The students need to go through the syllabus so they can see the value of it as a resource tool for the course. Gary
Alba, Good strategies to follow. Observing, listening and studying are good ways to expand your expertise as an educator. Keep up the good work. Gary
Suguna, I like your style as a dedicated professional educator. You care about your students and their success and you demonstrated this with your finding of the answer and then sharing it with them. Keep up the great work you are doing. You are impacting lives every time you teach. Gary
Sara, Yes, it is. It something that we instructors need to work to achieve every time we interact with students. Gary
Amanda, Good way to position yourself as the authority and knowledge leader in the class. Gary
Jonathan, Well done. This sets a positive tone for the class to come. In addition, it earns the respect of your students because they know you are a professional. Gary
Kimberly, Good point. Critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities are essential in most career fields, including this one. These skills are what determine to a major extent the success of an individual in his/her career area.
Marsha, You got that right. This is why it is so important to set the stage for the class at that first meeting. If we make a positive first impression then it a a building process from there on. Gary
