About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Musharaf, Can you expand on this? Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Barbara, This is a good form of instructional planning. You are reflecting the content through the delivery format. Student success course content is different in scope and content than a more in-depth course like Dental Anatomy. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gbolahan, All of these learning strategies help to get the students to focus on the content and then retain the content in their memories. Acronyms also can be fun to create and make learning more enjoyable. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Dr Hassler, You have laid out a very clear and concise strategy for capturing student attention and then getting them to focus progress they have made. This gives them a clear understanding of the ROI in relation to their effort. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Billie Kay, You make a good point about professional behavior. Students need to see how a professional conducts him/herself in different settings. This way they will know how to interact and communicate with other workers once they are out in the field. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Jon, Good way to get them using their newly acquired knowledge. You are helping them to make application and see relevancy to what is being taught. This is strategy is a powerful motivator. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
James, You are modeling more than you think with your efforts. You are showing your students that you are a dedicated professional and that you are there to assist them in achieving their career goals if they are willing to put forth the effort. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Nannette, Good point and one that the students pick up on very quickly. Both the talk and the walk have to be consistent. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Alain, Good to hear about the use of technology as you are experiencing it. Keep up the effort and I wish you much success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
John, You captured the essence of professionalism with your second sentence. This establishes a foundation for the students so they can see how people in their field should conduct themselves. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
