I am a visual-auditory learner, so I need to read/see and hear something for it to sink in. This picture looked helpful, so I am sharing it here :)

I agree that it's important for the instructor to be flexible when teachcing certain material to the class, and sticing always to one method does not work. We must know when to switch gears and try a different approach, going between lectures, demonstrations, coaching,  and good old Q&A. Gamification is also a great approach to incorporate throughout lecture time. It keeps class engaged and involved.

As I was learning these TC personality colors, I was trying to identify people I know that would belong with each of these colors. I believe, I am definitely blue. I always have motivational quotes posted on my white board on my office wall, so people passing by could feel inspired as they read them. I love doing lectures on communication and leadership psychology, so this is right up my alley.

I think, Steve Jobs would be a good example of Green personality trait? What do you think?

Reply to Cynthia Strycharz's post:That's a great point. As we learn more about various personality types and traits, we can remain more objective and understanding when dealing with our faculty and studnts in various situations. This would allow us to be less judgemental and not let our own feelings get involved.

I have known myself being a phlegmatic for most of my life. I also know that I am largely an introvert. Here I learned additional ways to characterize personality types and temperaments. I am having a hard time fully comprenending the Myers-Briggs types, because there are so many. Specifically, I am having difficulty distinguishing between Sensing, Perceiving, and Feeling - these seem to be so similar to me. Maybe someone could explain these to me better.

I have to agree with Suzanne. Our school usually goes to our externship and internship sites where our students complete practicum hours. These are usually the potential employers for our graduates as well. Using your own alumni who are already working in the industry is another great approach. If you go to conferences you can meet people there who work in similar areas. For example, I am the distance education director at my school. By going to CAPPS and ABHES conferences I can meet people who work in the same positino at other schools. I can invite them to be… >>>

With the industry changing so rapidly it's almost impossible to know in what direction you will be moving 5 years from now. You may have a general idea, not there is no guarantee that what you plan will actually work out within the time frame you have created. For example, our school wanted to open a BSN program. It took us over 7 years to actually open one, while we thought we could get it done much faster. The Board of Registered Nursing kept closing and opening and closing and opening again, which postponed everything. In any case, it's sometimes… >>>
