Hi!
If you teach a fully online class, what is a good way to target kinesthetic learners?

In one of my classes I give them a practical assignment out in real life and have them come back and share their experience in the discussion board. I am wondering, how others do this.

Thanks!

Yes, in my school we use hybrid method for multiple residential courses: students come in once a week for in-class and in-person interaction with the instructor, while they do the rest of the work at-home online, such as quizzes, assignments, etc. It works out great, as the students have busy lives with work and families, while balancing with school life.

Hi!
I have created multiple online courses, where I mimicked what I did when I was teaching on-ground.

When teaching on ground I would never use power points, I always would draw and write on the board, giving my students good notes to take home and study from.

I found it effective when I did exactly the same for my online courses: I have recording video lectures, where I wrote and drew on the screen, as if on a whiteboard. Most students really like this format, because they feel that it's almost the same as sitting in a classroom and… >>>

I think the idea of students introducing themselves in the forum is a great idea. I personally do that in the real-time class with my students on the first day of class. However, if I require, as their first assignment, to write a brief bio about their academic background, career, or experience, I am afraid that some will feel less than others. For example a housewife returning to school may feel shy sharing her academic background with others, who may already have advanced degrees. What do you think?
Hi! Thank you for your reply. I am not sure what the Sandbox is. Could you please elaborate? If it's a website, I will check it out. Thanks again!
My school is starting a brand new online course. This will be our first one ever. I, as the course instructor, provided all the lecture materials, quizzes, assignments, etc. We have one or two people who work as the administrator of the online course. They have more powers in terms of creating a new course, setting the enrollment time frames, the course time frames, etc. Do you think, the instructor should be doing all that, rather than someone else? I believe that if the instructor has more "hands-on", the instructor will understand all the ins and outs better.
