Being present, and supportive is an essential component of a successful online learning environment. Replying to queries as promptly as possible is one strategy, and setting clear office hours is useful as well

IT issues are extremely stressful, and an instructor has to have a chain of available support. Learning ways to troubleshoot is always a good strategy

I learned about the multiple steps to being an effective online instructor. Communication of course objectives, repeated reminders about deadlines, and offering support, assisting with technical challenges, and ensuring a compassionate environment is extremely important. The required rigor, and submission deadlines have to be maintained in a consistent pattern

I would like to search for examples of effective synchcronous teaching methods. This is particularly true of technical and medical courses

A well analyzed, designed, developed, and then assessed program is based on instructor engagement, commitment, shared objectives and a sense of shared goals

An online course does require a greater degree of planning, and creative engagement planning. Students have to feel part of a shared learning environment, with a progression of learning, success in assessments, and tangible progress on course objectives

Highly technical healthcare, and medical topics  require deep commitment and focus from learners. How does a distant Ed instructor ensure the requisite rigor is maintained

Online gaming as a learning too is something I would love to learn about

Comment on Sandra Chicas's post:

Asynchronous instruction enables students to learn and attend to other personal commitments. This is an excellent option for students with financial and/orfamily resposibilities
