Hi David: Yes, being forced to think creatively can produce some amazing results and turn ordinary "same-old same-old" lessons into descriptive lessons with lots of pizazz! Regards, Barry
Hi Jorge: Good. The key is to think about "what if nothing I've planned for is available"? The kinds of things you would do under these circumstances is how you want to think about back-up plans. Regards, Barry
Hi Timothy: Great - sounds like you have a good sense of control over your class and how you wanted it conducted. I agree that students want someone to be in charge, even it means school work assignments. Regards, Barry
Hi Bernie: Good points. I agree we want to avoid having one component such as a final exam weight overly much in the assessment of student learning. Regards, Barry
Hi Bernie: Great, especially about arriving an hour early to the classroom to assess and set-up. Your other back-up options are good ones as well. It's really surprising how much we can do with so little. It's all related to how much thought has preceded our planning. Regards, Barry
Hi Jose: Your need and desire for accomodating your students is apparent and poses a challenge for you as instructor to provide the needed learning in a manner your students are capable of accomplishing. I bet you have uncovered ways and methods that work to your students advantage. Regards, Barry
Hi Jose: Your systems seems to be subjective-oriented which is okay as long as the criteria you use is the same for all students. The last thing you want is to have stuednts acuse you of showing favoritism (or predudiced). Regards, Barry
Hi Paul: Evenly spaced components as you describe help keep grades spaced well. I think this techniques helps keep no one factor monopolizing the final grade. Regards, Barry
Hi Bobby: Grading without bias or subjectivity takes a lot of thought and planning. We want to be fair, but our version of fair and the students version may be different. Using a grading rubric can help the instructor follow an established model that helps keep things relatively objective. Regards, Barry
Hi Bernie: Great. Your self analysis is instructive. Thanks for sharing. Regards, Barry
