Intrinsic motivators vary from students to student. The instructor should identify each individuals intrinsic motivators, and create extrinsic motivators that complement them.

Security and Autonomy are both needed in a balance to provide a motivational environment where students can progress and succeed. Pausing between thoughts or responding after a short pause allows for well formed responses and better overall questions.

Showing up early and ready to work shows the ethics that you need to make it through the program, and continue the journey of post-graduate education in the field. This display of motivation will undoubtedly be noticed by students and lead them down the same path.

Sharing stories of real life experience that relates to the course is a key tool in allowing students to see a clear path forward on their journey of education.

Setting a teaching plan and adhering to it, even though the class may have individuals that are at different levels of understanding, is key. Utilizing my field experience and relating it to each individual student will allow them to see progress of their own and not worry about the overall progress of the class.

This course helped me more efficiently engage with the student perspective, and will allow me to tailor my responses and discussions to individual student needs and learning styles.
