I really enjoyed this subject just as well as I have enjoyed all the other topics. I was able to identify myself and style of classroom management. And now I understand what areas of classroom management I can keep and what I can develope into my management styles. I don't know if I expressed it well, but I do know I'm glad I had the opportunity to evaluate myself.
I learned a lot about selecting a testing format during this session. I test my students everyday and see what they retain. The slower students would leave their test blank frequently.
I continuously assess general education skills on my students because they don't understand a lot of questions that are asked orally or written. Their biggest excuse is that they have a IEP or were always special education students that were never put in population, and could I continue what they were use to doing like read the questions to them. Wow.
Sometime it is hard to keep students engaged. I find it better to ask a few questions at one time and allow them time to think about their answer.
When I begain to understand the different learning styles better, I was able to understand my student's problem in retaining what I think is simple information.

I tend to enter class full of energy and the students will begin to show a little energy, but I also find when I smile at them or speak pleasant to them they respond better to me.

I find myself getting sucked into students medical issues and I feel like my hands are tied because I work at a school and not in the medical field where I have a host of options. I have a student that is a juvenile IDDM and is only twenty. In the middle of class she states she feel like killing herself and don't think she will live to see thirty. I did not know what the resources were so I explained to the class that if a patient said that, we would let the provider know immediately. Now what should… >>>

Basically I feel instructors are familiar with what we are teaching and we are just breaking down what we already know.
My first time having a group of students I tend to fell just as uneasy as them. Upon entering the class I remind myself what my objective is. I want the students to have a synopsis of the course. Then I begin with notes and explain my notes focusing on key words that they would need to know for their quiz the next day>
I use the syllabus objective section to prepare topics for lecture. The syllabus meets the criteria of what they should learn and thats what I give them, exactly what they should learn. I don't short cut anything.
