Activity

Active listening is important when building a relationship with a prospective student. They should feel heard and welcomed when going through the admission process.

I have learned the difference between empathy and sympathy, and how important body signals are in communication.

I was taking a course on communication, but it brought me here for some reason. I learned that body language makes up most of what we are communicating, tone being second, and the actual words being said actually make up less than 10 percent of what is being communicated.

I have learned that staying up to date on rules/campus policies is necessary to be successful as an Admissions Representative. I have a responsibility to take annual training, and attend all meetings/read all emails to ensure I am as up-to-date as possible.

During this section I have learned about the importance of student services. Letting a prospective student know about academic assistance, counseling, career services, etc. can help ease any anxiety they have about starting.

This module taught me to be aware of financial aid options and the refund policy. Additionally, I know now what the catalog and Enrollment Agreement needs to include.

I am an Admission's Representative that has learned to be mindful of how I represent myself. I cannot refer to my position as an advisor or counselor. I also am learning new terminology and rules/regulations.
