About me

I love teaching the Expanded Functions in Dental Assisting.  It has been my profession and passion for 31 years.  Teaching students the EFDA skills has fulfilled my passion to share such a rewarding career that can advance in many different directions.  Dr Bruce Gordy has been a mentor throughout my life which has allowed me to mentor others and follow in his foot steps.  My husband, Bobby has also been an instrument in helping finance our school and museum.

Having a small private school helps with keeping up with students as they go through the admissions and enrollment process.  Also encouraging students to follow the school through social media helps keep in contact.  Getting involved with community activites as a school team and motivating the students to participate keeps the needs and concerns of all students up front as well.  I enjoy each student and get to know a specific and important detail of each student to also let the student that we support them all the way.

Education would be my best answer, however, working as one receives an education is also an option.  Our program provides the skills in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting so a student can graduate and apply for a job while climbing the education ladder for higher pay or employment.

Understanding the individual needs of each student is not only necessary but a successful strategy in keeping your student motivated.

The information provided in this Course was so informative.  We will need to put together our MaxKnowledge notebook and discuss the changes we need to make as well as the basic routine we use in informing our students about our Expanded Functions Dental Assisting program.

Thanks Tracee for the notes on course ED112.

To be an effective Instructor, stress must be managed.

As an Instructor,  the information about student motivation from Tracee Lawing encourages me to add this course to my list of courses i want to enroll.  Keeping all students motivated and engaged can be a challenge based upon their individual needs.

We are a new school with one program and are in our second year.  Many students who would love to enroll are looking for the financial help.  For Volusia County, we have had success with the One-Stop Center for Business Excellence  to provide some financial help for those students who qualify.  However, for the students, I would love to provide the financial aid for those who qualify asap.

As my dental assisting program is being established, I feel more organized an able to understand the admissions process as well as be able to suggest ideas in regards to admissions.  During the hiring of an admissions representative for the program, as the Director, the resource notebook will be a great communication tool for keeping the school organized and our mantra alive.
