Activity

Consistency is vital, but the ability to assess that something is not working and needs to be adapted is equally vital.

I have been working on the feedback I have been giving students online.  I am much more comfortable face-to-face with my students - that is how I have always taught.  I hope to implement some of the ideas given here on encouraging participation - some of the students are struggling with that but they are starting to reach out more as I make sure to respond to them quickly when they do reach out.  The advantage I have is that almost all of my students who are online with me right now were in the classroom with me before that,… >>>

Organization and communication!  I find that much of what was presented here is what I have instinctively done when we needed to transition to online learning rather quickly.  My classroom is a blend of synchronous and asynchronous.  I particularly appreciated the comment about avoiding the perception that the online instructor is available 24-7.  By communicating when I am available and then actually being very available during those times,  I feel I have helped my students transition better and be less stressed during a difficult time.

We were thrown into online learning abruptly, as were many, so it has been a challenge to use what we have and learn to expand that and make the most of it.  It is great to get ideas about more options and to consider how each technology might be used to further our learning objectives and enhance our primary instructional style.
