Keeping organized records and being involved in discussions are important in e-learning. Knowing your types of learners and how best to support them on-line is important. Discussions can bring conflict, but can be managed by the instructor and can provide a rich learning experience.
Knowing when to use synchronous and asynchronous meetings was interesting. I definitely want to take a more proactive approach with elearning and provide feedback more often. I am interested if any math teachers have done discussions and how that works.
Just as in the classroom, it is important to KNOW your students and being active in their learning. Building a relationship with trust is important, and being involved in student classroom activities help students to engage.
It is essential that instructors know the structure/organization of an on-line learning platform and their role within the course. Being supportive of students with both learning and technology is important, as well.

Career Ed Lounge is embedded in over eighty professional development portals serving the career and technical education community. Performance Groups in the Lounge are integrated with related learning opportunities offered on these portals. With a few exceptions, Performance Groups are also publicly available to any member of the Lounge to maximize peer-to-peer learning and performance outcomes.
