I really liked the idea of being explicit about what communication you want from students, as well as what that communication should look like. The ending rubric could be something useful to use with students to be clear about your expectations.

There are many different types of technology and communication devices that can be used in a virtual classroom. As the instructor, one must choose appropriately and evaluate the tool used to determine its usefulness for that particular course.

This has really made me rethink how we formatted our F2F course into an online course. I think we need to include more interactive pieces. More interaction should lead to more investment.

I really think this module reminded me how active I need to be in my online classroom. I need to give timely and effective feedback more often, but at the same time set guidelines so that I do not appear to be availabl 24/7. I also really want to find the ways to motivate students to want to be engaged.

Guidelines need to be clearly shared for students to understand their role in the learning process. I like the idea of a discussion board for math class- to understand where the students are at and what they need.

Teachers need to be intentional about the teaching technology tools that they use and ensure that they support learning. I really like the idea of a "FAQ" section with information on common errors!

It is important to evaluate your course for effectiveness. There are multiple ways to do this. We want to "close the loop" and ensure that assessment guides instruction and instruction lends itself to assessment.

There are many ways to assess (formative, summative, peer to self, peer to peer), and a variety should be used. It is also essential for the instructor to provide feedback in appropriate ways (automatic and fast feedback is important).

Scaffolding is used to help students learn with the materiala and not from it. Effective communication is essential.

Keeping a module consistent and easy to work in is essential. It should be a student friendly format with learning objects that support the content. I like the idea of having a location for all of my information to keep it together and organized.
