Self-reflections and taking notes help us learn from mistakes and evolve and grow in our teaching practice.

Managing student behavior requires good listening skills, neutrality, and perhaps even a third-party involvement.

These days it's hard to keep one's attention when they are connected to their watch, iPhone, iPad, iEVERYHITNG!  I feel like these devices should all be turned off during class time.

I once had a math teacher who entered the room on roller blades wearing a helmet, ready to play hockey.  He immediately captured everyone's attention. He threw a hockey puck into the forum not aiming at anyone and then discussed the probabilities of that puck reaching a certain distance... then he went on to teach ... the class remained engaged wondering what else he would do... he did stuff like this every class... he was the best teacher I have ever had!

Effective teaching strategies address different learning styles. Demonstration of skill or procedure requires preparation and practice beforehand.

It is important to get to know the students a bit on the first day.

Preparation is FUNDAMENTAL.

Preparation, professional development, loving what you teach, and being a role model are fundamental aspects of teaching.
