Different types of learners can lead to students struggling to complete their coursework.  Email is the best form of communication and teachers should take the time to assist students that might fall behind.

It is better to use asynchronous learning for discussions so that one student can't dominate a synchronous environment.  We should also keep our comments to the point and stay focuses so we can provide learners with what they need to advance in the topic and discussion.

We should be ready to initiate and lead the discussions.  Help build a relationship by engaging with the students in the discussion, and not just reading it.  Give feedback in a timely manner.

To be a successful instructor I need to be familiar with my course content, and use a layout that is easy to navigate so students can find what the need.

We should be willing to use feedback to update course and "close the loop" to help our students have the best online learning experience possible.

Be sure to use both formative (while you are learning), and summative (at the end of learning) assessments.  Make sure your feedback is positive but constructive and useful.  Don't make to long.

Be sure to create a learning community.  Mae sure the syllabus is dynamic and relevant to the students' needs.  Make sure your communication is on time and detailed.  Learn your students prior knowledge so you can scaffold to their needs.

Make sure you keep your modules updated, and consistent in style and length.
